Hotels & Golf - Savannah, Georgia is everything your imagination tells you the true old south should be like. From the gas lantern lit streets, and moss hanging from the trees, a Troon golf trip experience arises out of the tranquil marshlands. On the riverside looking over historic Savannah one of the most challenging courses awaits your arrival. Very few golf destinations can hold both the expectations of a romantic carriage ride, to bringing out your "A" game.
The Westin Savannah Golf Resort and Spa promises to deliver for everyone in the family. All the accommodations take nature into consideration with views of the historic river street restaurants, parks, and boutiques. The resort is currently offering a golf package including your choice of golf, or treatment at the Spa each day. Also, most packages include all resort fees, taxes, and occupancy charges.
The championship 18 hole course offers a variance in tee yardage to accommodate your level of expertise. From the fairways to the speed of the unpredictable greens, the challenge as well as the beauty will embrace you. Water and natural habitat marsh lands surrounds the course, meaning an off shot may not be retrievable. The Club at Savannah Harbor has been voted a top choice to play and stay.
Joanie's Tip is to stay a couple of nights at the resort, and to spend at least one night at The Planters Inn on Reynolds square in the heart of the historic district. The Inn is over 200 years old, and was an original boutique hotel. I highly recommend reserving a room with a balcony onto Reynolds Square, and the beautiful fountain. Happy hour is hosted on the top floor of the Inn offering amazing views. The best restaurant you MUST eat at is just a couple of steps away. The Pink House is a wonderfully restored 1771 candlelit dining experience (23 Abercorn Street 912-232-4286).
From the Inn the carriage tours of the southern plantations, parks, and historic places are walking distance. River street is a block away for specialty shops, restaurants, and cool water side taverns with music. History is everywhere in Savannah, as the world has seen through the eyes of movies like, Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The "Mercer House" from the movie is just a few blocks away.
Hotels & Golf on what to do after the carriage tour include: Forsyth Park (20 acres, built in 1851), Wright Square named after the last Royal Governor in 1773, Tomochichi Memorial, Jepson Center for the Arts, Lucas Theatre (built in1921)
